Applied the 2nd coat of paint today on the boat. One more to go before I camo it out. I still haven't decided on the camo pattern. I want it to be functional, but look good as well.
This blog is dedicated to my attempt at building the perfect outdoor boat.
After researching jon boats, V hulls, skiffs, and duck boats I decided to build my own because I couldn't find one that suited all my needs. I wanted the shallow draft of a flat bottom, the stability of a pontoon, be able to withstand 1'-2' chop, unsinkable, carry 2 people and all my gear, be small, and not "break" the bank.
Therefore, I have designed a boat and will attempt to build it. Measurements are general and will change as the building goes. The design will change as well depending on forthcoming issues.
I live in Tennessee and spend every free moment in the outdoors. I love my family, enjoy a roaring campfire, fish when possible, hunt ducks in the winter, hike every trail I can, kayak when feasible, and love my dog. I write for outdoor publications and websites. I believe we are symbiotic with nature, not its master.
